Welcome to Nakia Thomas Creative. This website is devoted to the boutique creative consulting + styling services studio launched by Nakia Thomas (focusing on wardrobe styling, interior decor, art direction, and content creation).
Our founder and creative director is a multi-media creator and lawyer based in New York City, and has always sought to balance her creative passions with her legal profession, as detailed further below.
Nakia is a member of the Board of Directors of Brandywine Workshop & Archives and the Board of Directors of Bronx Legal Services; and has served on an Advisory Board for Moore College of Art & Design.

Demonstrating an interest in the arts from an early age in her native Jamaica, Nakia’s creative career had an auspicious start: it began shortly after her graduation from Brown University in 2000—in the Condé Nast building (the physical home of Vogue, GQ, Architectural Digest, and The New Yorker, among other magazines)—inspired by the many editors she observed while waiting for the elevators to take her to her offices in the portion of the building occupied by the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
The tension elicited by Nakia’s interest in both creative and legal pursuits was highlighted during that time period, but she found a happy medium by attending to both: nurturing her then nascent career as a legal professional by continuing to work at the law firm and applying to law schools, while also indulging her budding creative career by launching www.stylechile.com, in 2001, where she documented photo shoots that she styled for Kesha Lambert Photography.
Following graduation from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2005, and while deep in the throes of being a junior corporate lawyer at a big law firm, Nakia again sought to balance her legal career with her creative interests, and launched www.stylechile.blogspot.com, in 2006, where she shared news, opinions, and other insights related to fashion and styling.
After briefly deciding to leave the law in 2012 (then changing her mind), Nakia relaunched www.stylechile.com, and, since then, continues to provide creative direction and styling services on ad campaigns for StyleChile; for editorials in publications such as UPTOWN Magazine; and as commissioned by brands and individuals.
As a counterweight to her creative interests, Nakia practices corporate transactional law as senior counsel for a global company; is founding principal of Stelle Legal (an advisory firm that provides strategy and research consultancy services to clients in media, entertainment, fashion, art & design industries); and appears in WETV's Money.Power.Respect. -- a docuseries focusing on lawyers in New York City.
